Corescan are leaders in the hyperspectral scanning, processing and interpretation of drill core, rock chips and other geological samples.

Corescan

Established in 2000, Corescan is a services company specialising in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of hyperspectral data. The company provides centralised bureau services as well as onsite laboratory services for real time, automated geological logging. Our services include hyperspectral mineralogy, core photography and 3D laser profiling which is processed and analysed by our team of specialist geoscientists using proprietary software to produce geological models that impact exploration, mining, mineral processing and environmental management.

Corescan has offices located in Australia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Canada and the UK, with its head office located in Perth, Australia.

Neil Goodey

Director

Neil has over 25 years’ management and corporate experience in developing and running mining services, geoscience and technology based companies. Neil was co-founder of UTS Geophysics, a global provider of airborne geophysical surveys, serving as Managing Director from 1991-2001, Executive Chairman from 2001-2007, and as COO and director of Toronto listed Aeroquest International from 2007-2009. Neil was co-founder of DTI Group Ltd, a public transit technology provide listed on the Australian Stock Exchanger, serving as CEO from 2001-2007, as executive director from 2007-2016, and Chairman from 2016-2018. Neil is a recipient of the Graham Sands Award for his work in the geosciences industry and is a co-founder and director of Corescan.

Nino Tufilli

Operations Director

Nino was a co-founder of UTS Geophysics, a global provider of airborne geophysical surveys, serving as Technical Director from 1991-2001, and Managing Director from 2001-2007. He served as director of Toronto listed Aeroquest International from 2007-2009 and Operations Director of UTS Geophysics over the same period. Nino co-founded UTS Navigation Systems, which now trades as DTI Group, a provider of integrated digital video surveillance and vehicle tracking technology to the public transport market. Nino has over 25 years experience in the computer science, geophysical and electronics industries and in 2000 was joint recipient of the Graham Sands Award for his work in the geophysical industry. Nino is a co-founder and director of Corescan.

Peter Overend

Chief Financial Officer

Peter has over 20 years’ experience in the accounting field across a number of industries in Australia and New Zealand.  He has significant experience in mining services with his previous position as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of the Australian division of publicly listed Aeroquest International Limited.  Peter was awarded Fellowship status with CPA Australia and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies degree from Massey University, New Zealand.

Dr. Ronell Carey

Chief Spectroscopist, Senior Spectral Geologist

Ronell has been in the mining industry for over 25 years gaining an early functional exposure in exploration before specialising in the geoscientific application of spectral analysis. She gained extensive exposure to various spectral systems during the early 2000’s as part of Anglo American Technical Services, including ground, satellite and early airborne hyperspectral systems. Ronell joined Corescan in 2012, after 10 years of independent consulting and is currently active with the interpretation of hyperspectral data and assisting with the ongoing development of the Corescan systems.

Dr. William Lau

Manager, Software Engineering

William has over 15 years experience in commercial, large scale distributed and machine learning systems, principally serving the mining and transportation industries. At DTI Group, his recent works involved developing patented shallow and deep learning vision-based systems to facilitate real-time detection and analysis of anomalies and faults in overhead electrical lines and pantograph systems in rail networks. In 2015, his team together with Hitachi Rail, developed the distributed vision system for the driverless trains and level crossing sites for Rio Tinto’s AutoHaul project. Prior to DTI, he was a researcher and lecturer at Curtin University where he formed the Phoenix research laboratory to develop adaptive network overlay architectures for collaborative-oriented applications. Dr Lau possesses a PhD in Computer Science from Curtin University.

Nigel Hobday

Manager, Engineering

Nigel is a mechanical and electrical engineer with more than 25 years of experience in designing, building machinery and providing technical solutions. He has worked in many industries providing solutions and designs across a wide range of requirements. Nigel has been designing and building machines and equipment for Corescan since 2011, and prior to working with Corescan, worked in the medical, pharmaceutical, mining and process industries.

Santiago Montoya

Business Development Manager – LATAM

Santiago has over 25 years of experience in the mining industry, having initially worked as an exploration geologist and geotechnical engineer. His career progressed into the management, provision and expansion of technical services and support for the geochemistry and mineral exploration markets across Latin America. Santiago has fulfilled a range of senior operational, technical and commercial roles, including General Manager, Regional Manager and Director Business Development for several global service companies. Santiago has a degree in Engineering Geology from the Escuela de Ingenieria de Antioquia in Medellin and an MBA from the Tulane University in New Orleans.

Peter Franca

Manager, IT Services

Peter Franca is a network engineer with over 15 years of experience in the IT industry. He has a strong background in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network infrastructure for large organizations. He has a significant experience in routing and switching protocols, as well as network security and troubleshooting. He holds a degree in Computer Networking from Facudade Sumare in São Paulo, Brazil and an Advanced Diploma of Network Security from the Intech Institute of Technology in Queensland, Australia. Additionally, he holds certifications including CCNP (Cisco Certified Professional), Cisco Certified DevNet Specialist – Enterprise Automation and Programmability, LPIC-1, and LPIC-2 (Linux Professional Institute). Peter is passionate about automation, monitoring, open-source projects, and staying current with new technologies’.
