Established in 2000, Corescan is a services company specialising in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of hyperspectral data. The company provides centralised bureau services as well as onsite laboratory services for real time, automated geological logging. Our services include hyperspectral mineralogy, core photography and 3D laser profiling which is processed and analysed by our team of specialist geoscientists using proprietary software to produce geological models that impact exploration, mining, mineral processing and environmental management.
Corescan has offices located in Australia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Canada and the UK, with its head office located in Perth, Australia.
Corescan is a member of the Geoscan group of companies.

Neil has over 25 years’ management and corporate experience in developing and running mining services, geoscience and technology based companies. Neil was co-founder of UTS Geophysics, a global provider of airborne geophysical surveys, serving as Managing Director from 1991-2001, Executive Chairman from 2001-2007, and as COO and director of Toronto listed Aeroquest International from 2007-2009. Neil was co-founder of DTI Group Ltd, a public transit technology provide listed on the Australian Stock Exchanger, serving as CEO from 2001-2007, as executive director from 2007-2016, and Chairman from 2016-2018. Neil is a recipient of the Graham Sands Award for his work in the geosciences industry and is a co-founder and director of Corescan.
Nino was a co-founder of UTS Geophysics, a global provider of airborne geophysical surveys, serving as Technical Director from 1991-2001, and Managing Director from 2001-2007. He served as director of Toronto listed Aeroquest International from 2007-2009 and Operations Director of UTS Geophysics over the same period. Nino co-founded UTS Navigation Systems, which now trades as DTI Group, a provider of integrated digital video surveillance and vehicle tracking technology to the public transport market. Nino has over 25 years experience in the computer science, geophysical and electronics industries and in 2000 was joint recipient of the Graham Sands Award for his work in the geophysical industry. Nino is a co-founder and director of Corescan.
Chief Financial Officer, Company Secretary
Peter has over 20 years’ experience in the accounting field across a number of industries in Australia and New Zealand. He has significant experience in mining services with his previous position as Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary of the Australian division of publicly listed Aeroquest International Limited. Dr. Ronell Carey
Chief Spectroscopist, Senior Spectral Geologist
Ronell has been in the mining industry for over 25 years gaining an early functional exposure in exploration before specialising in the geoscientific application of spectral analysis. She gained extensive exposure to various spectral systems during the early 2000’s as part of Anglo American Technical Services, including ground, satellite and early airborne hyperspectral systems. Ronell joined Corescan in 2012, after 10 years of independent consulting and is currently active with the interpretation of hyperspectral data and assisting with the ongoing development of the Corescan systems.
Dr. Cari Deyell-Wurst
Chief Geologist, Senior Spectral Geologist
Cari is a geoscientist with over 20 years’ experience in spectral analysis and data processing applied to all aspects of mineral exploration and mining. She has a PhD from the University of British Columbia, Canada and spent 6 years as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Centre for Ore Deposit Research (CODES), University of Tasmania, Australia. Cari’s experience in hyperspectral technologies includes her work as a consultant with Spectral International Inc (USA), where she was responsible for analytical service contracts to industrial, governmental, and associated sectors within the natural resource arena. Her work was focused on analysis and interpretation of VNIR-SWIR data using hand-held instruments (specTERRA, oreXpress, TerraSpec, PIMA) and the integration of spectral datasets at exploration prospects in Canada and USA. Cari has been with Corescan for over 5 years working on the processing, interpretation and application of hyperspectral data to a diverse range of deposit types.
Dr. Cassady Harraden
Senior Spectral Geologist, Geometallurgy Specialist
Dr. William Lau
William has over 15 years experience in commercial, large scale distributed and machine learning systems, principally serving the mining and transportation industries. At DTI Group, his recent works involved developing patented shallow and deep learning vision-based systems to facilitate real-time detection and analysis of anomalies and faults in overhead electrical lines and pantograph systems in rail networks. In 2015, his team together with Hitachi Rail, developed the distributed vision system for the driverless trains and level crossing sites for Rio Tinto’s AutoHaul project. Prior to DTI, he was a researcher and lecturer at Curtin University where he formed the Phoenix research laboratory to develop adaptive network overlay architectures for collaborative-oriented applications. Dr Lau possesses a PhD in Computer Science from Curtin University.
